A crash involving a dump truck and a tractor-trailer caused major traffic disruptions on Route 9 in Freehold before the roadway was reopened.

The crash happened on Route 9 south near the Craig Road intersection. Authorities shut down part of the highway as police and emergency crews responded to the scene.

Initial reports indicated a dump truck crashed into a tractor-trailer south of Craig Road and north of Schibanoff Lane. Police blocked access to Route 9 south at Craig Road near the BP gas station, Chase Bank and Lighting Expo.

Hazmat crews responded to a fluid leak caused by the collision while first responders worked at the scene.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

The left lane of Route 9 reopened shortly before 8 a.m., easing traffic impacts as cleanup operations continued.
