Twelve residents were displaced, and a dog has died following a house fire in Paterson.

Flames broke out around 7 a.m. on Redwood Avenue.

Crews spent about an hour getting the fire under control.

Firefighters say the dog was found trapped in a crate inside a bedroom.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
