It is the morning before Thanksgiving, hundreds of alarms went off early today to be in line at one of the busiest places in all of New Jersey. Our news 12 tradition of visiting delicious orchards continues this morning as news 12, Jim Murdoch is once again ready to witness this controlled chaos and colts neck and Jim, how many years has it been? But more importantly, how many pies have you seen? I've seen probably hundreds of thousands of pies. This is the eighth year that F Ryan and myself had been out here at this business. It's one of the uh the big success stories if you will of a family run business about as American as American pie times, maybe 50,000. Here are the early arrivals. The doors haven't even opened yet. We still have about an hour before we get inside. But let's kind of go down the line here. We have Fran from Old Bridge. You didn't know you'd be on live TV this morning, but you're the first in line. You win. Why be number one? Because they have the best pies and you have to get here early. You're exactly right. It's not too cold out here. Let's keep going. Thank you, Bob Kelly's here. Is this a tradition for you picking up your Wednesday pies and goodies? Yes, it is. This is the day before Thanksgiving. So we all come out here, you know, and well, most of them are home sleeping yet, but I'm out here this morning to take care of business and pick up our traditional pies. Excellent. Let's come right out here. Rich got some apple cider. They've been passing out hot cider, cold cider, hot coffee. Rich, taking advantage of that. How exciting is this to be here again this year? It's great. I come every year. So I'm usually the third or fourth in line every year. So this year is no different and they have the best pies here. So it's great. And folks watching at home, the numbers are staggering. Take a look at some of the video we've shot over the years here at Delicious Orchards. The more than 300 employees who signed up for this willingly will have handed out 50,000 plus pies this week and in just one day, more than 11,000 cider donuts. It's a helm at the mcdonald family here at the Delicious Orchards. It's grown into a powerhouse of locally grown and prepared fresh food and we've seen people drive as far as three and four hours away. Let's come back live. Look, now we're getting a good crowd. There's about 70 people. I would say here in line coming up, we reintroduce you folks to some of the people behind the scenes here and show you how it's done as our traditional Thanksgiving Eve at delicious orchards head into the hour of chaos coming up next.

News. 12 tradition of visiting delicious orchards continues this morning as Jim Murdoch is once again ready to witness all that controlled chaos and Colts neck, Jim, the doors just swung open early and look at that line behind you. Yeah, they couldn't even wait until eight o'clock. There were so many people showing up so quickly and they just wanted to start to move the line. You can see it is controlled chaos but hundreds of people already making their way through the door, picking up thousands of pies, doughnuts and cookies. Hi. Happy Thanksgiving, sir. And the family behind all this has run delicious orchards for the last half century, Mike mcdonald. Thanks for joining us again. You know, the tradition here actually dates back to 1911, but you've been part of it for the better part of 50 years. And this is, this is what 300 employees here live for. Yes, it is. I mean, this is our Super Bowl. This is what we look forward to all year. Our family works hard. Our staff works so hard. We're very proud of this and yeah, controlled chaos. I mean, if you see folks are moving in. We keep that line outside moving. Our register lines are moving. We've done this for a long time. I like to say we're pros how has a family run business made this a tradition? Not only on so many Thanksgiving tables, but also the day before to actually experience this in person for the more than 18 or 20 varieties of pies, doughnuts. And yeah. So I think, I think it's important for folks when they're gathering with family to know that what they're eating was made by a family. We like to put a lot of love and TLC and care and fresh products into what we do with our pies. I think that matters to people. I think when they're eating it, they know it was made with love and that's the time to do that. All right. We'll let you get back to work, Mike. It's busy here. They're open pretty much all day long. Well, by the end of the day, more than 10,000 sleeves of doughnuts and boxes of pies will have left delicious orchards and cold snack. Maybe heading to a Thanksgiving table near you. Yeah, it's our news 12 tradition of visiting the family store as Jim Murdoch is there right in the middle of all that chaos. Jim, can you pick me up a pecan pie? I can certainly get a pecan pie. How about some cider donuts though? You know, by the end of the day, they will have sold more than 11,000 sleeves of cider doughnuts. Let's come over here too. You can see the crowd still coming in. This is, this is the wall of cookies and you can smell it in here. I can actually feel myself gaining weight from just smelling the wall of cookies and we can still, this gentleman has a, a smile on his face coming here. Hi. We're live on News 12, New Jersey. How awesome is it being back? It's great. It's part of the Thanksgiving Day tradition that we do. I grew up here in cos neck and I moved away outside of Philadelphia and I drove an hour and 20 minutes to get here for the pies because they are the best. This is unrehearsed, unscripted and you're hearing it just from a customer walking in. That's correct. Yeah, it's great. We love it. All right. The worst thing is we're blocking the entrance. So let's come on over here and this is the, the wall of pies. As you can see, as folks make their way in, they have it all set up like an assembly line. Henry Ford would have been proud of the setup here. Everything is just, you know, as smooth as can be. And we, we've got more food over here, but you know what folks coming up, join us at noon because we will go behind the scenes and we'll show you how these pies, the cookies, the doughnuts are all made.
