Companies will be required to be upfront about wage ranges when Connecticut's Expanded Pay Transparency Law takes effect in October.
State Sen. Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox says the measure is a massive step forward for workplace equity.
"This is critical for women in particular because when an employer bases a salary offer for a new job on an employee's past salary history, for women, that tends to be lower than the salary that men are getting for the same job," Gadkar-Wilcox said on Saturday.
The law also bans employers from asking about a candidate's salary history during the hiring process.
