Long Islanders are now paying more to enter Manhattan as congestion pricing officially went into effect Sunday.

"I have a few jobs contracted in the congestion zone," explained Ben Jackson, of Freeport.

Under the plan, drivers will now pay at least $9 if they travel into Manhattan during peak hours below 60th Street.

The cost of the toll also depends on the type of vehicle.

Motorcyclists pay less. Small trucks will be charged $14.40.

Larger trucks will cost $21.60 to travel past 60th Street in Manhattan.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has created exemptions for some, including emergency vehicles, buses, and low-income drivers.
