Cape May County authorities are warning parents and caregivers about colorful, unusually shaped methamphetamine that prosecutors say could be mistaken by children for candy or vitamins.
Wildwood police responded to the 200 East block of Spencer Avenue on Sept. 17 after receiving a report of a person with a handgun. Police said officers later located 36-year-old Mark Davis of Vineland.
According to the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, detectives searched Davis' vehicle under a warrant and found a handgun and suspected drugs. The county forensic laboratory later determined the substances were methamphetamine.
Prosecutors said Davis faces several weapons and drug charges, including unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Prosecutors urged parents and caregivers to be especially vigilant, saying children may not recognize the danger posed by colorful or unusually shaped substances.
