A community has come together to help a Stratford family that has not had heat in their home.
Liane Rose, who lives on Orange Street in Stratford, has two young children who are both disabled.
"When our furnace broke 10 days ago, it was a total nightmare. We were freezing inside this house," Rose told News 12.
But after learning about the family's situation on News 12 on Sunday, the owner of Modern Heating and Air Conditioning of Milford stepped up to repair the furnace for free.
Dr. Monette Ferguson -- CEO of the Bridgeport anti-poverty agency Alliance -- said she was grateful to help organize the effort.
"We have longstanding relationships with HVAC companies in this area, because of the work we do helping families get heat -- so when I heard from Matt, who runs Modern HVAC, I was thrilled," Ferguson said.
Ferguson said that Matt saw the story on News 12 and wanted to help.
Rose says she was grateful.
"I can't begin to tell you how much we appreciate everybody coming together this way. It really just makes me want to cry," Rose said.
