26m agoThe U.S. Coast Guard says it is searching for a child who fell into the Housatonic River in Stratford.
The Coast Guard is focusing its efforts on an area near the Birdseye boat launch.
A Coast Guard boat and helicopter were deployed to the area.

The agency says it is working with Stratford and Bridgeport fire departments.
The Stratford Professional Firefighters IAFF 998 posted on Facebook that crews responded to Birdseye Street for a water rescue.

As a result of the search, the Birdseye boat ramp is closed.
People are being asked to avoid the area on land and on the water.
