Physician-owned health network says it has something different to offer
yesterdayPublic Health Solutions (PHS), a reproductive health center that has served low-income Brooklyn women since the 1970s, is set to close its doors.
The Fort Greene and Brownsville locations will shut down after years of operational and financial challenges, including rising costs, staff shortages and funding cuts.
The closures will leave many underserved women without a trusted resource for prenatal care, STI testing and contraception.
“We’ve tried everything we could, and I simply can’t afford to keep them open,” said Lisa David, CEO of PHS.
Patient care will continue to taper off until the center officially closes on March 14.
PHS will host a public town hall meeting on Jan. 22 to address concerns and provide alternative resources for patients and staff.
