A Chester man has pleaded guilty in connection with a carjacking last February, according to the Orange County district attorney.
Edward Keegan, 34, pleaded guilty to robbery.
The incident happened at a shopping center on Brookside Avenue. A woman had gone into a store, leaving her mother inside the car. Keegan entered the vehicle and tried to drive away.
The woman stood in front of the car to stop him, and the vehicle made contact with her. Her mother was able to get out before Keegan crashed the car. He was arrested shortly after.
Under a plea deal, Keegan paid $50,000 in restitution for the car’s damage. He is expected to receive up to seven years in prison when he returns to court in September.
