Streets in Dunellen were overwhelmed Monday as nearly seven inches of rain fell in just a few hours, submerging cars and flooding neighborhoods.

People caught in the storm said the water rose quickly, with one person describing it as "like a raging river."

In some areas, water reached halfway up windshields as vehicles became trapped.

The area couldn't handle the intense rainfall, and video from the scene shows cars submerged under fast-rising water.
