Police have identified the driver killed in a crash that involved a fallen tree in Mount Pleasant.

Authorities say 36-year-old Brian Appelbergh, of Carmel, was driving on Route 9A in the Hawthorne section Monday when he tried to avoid a fallen tree on the road.

Investigators say a 911 call reported he lost control and crashed into another tree.

He was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he later died.
