PTSD was debilitating for United States Air Force veteran Michael Brennan.
Brennan says he would relive traumatic experiences from his time abroad for 25 years.
One day, he decided it was time to get help.
Brennan reached out to Canine Companions and was paired with his "best bud," Claudio.
Marissa Guidoboni, a senior instructor with Canine Companions, tells News 12, “These are dogs that are very in tune with people. They are able to pick up little cues that the veterans don’t even realize they are doing.”
Brennan wants others suffering from PTSD to know there is help out there, and he finally has his independence back, thanks to his pup.
“It is Independence Day and Claudio has given me independence. I hope there is somebody else out there that will be able to get their independence as well," he says.
