A Brownsville woman says she has been living with leaking and corroded pipes in her NYCHA apartment for more than a month.
Her apartment is in the Glenmore Plaza Houses. The tenant, Chris, lives with her 9-month-old daughter and says it has been a back and forth with the NYCHA without a solution.
"They said that they don't even have it in the system that they're supposed to be coming this week," Chris said. "It's always an excuse. Me and my child are getting rashes. It's not a livable and humane place for us to be living."
NYCHA responded to News 12's request for information in a statement:
"NYCHA staff are working to coordinate access across multiple apartments to facilitate this repair, and plumbers are scheduled to return [Tuesday]. Previously, staff visited the apartment and made a temporary repair. The permanent repair requires simultaneous access to three neighboring apartments along the same line. NYCHA encourages residents in need of assistance to call the customer contact center at 718-707-7771 or submit work tickets through the MyNYCHA application."
