A Brooklyn school dean is demanding justice after accusing members of the MTA's Eagle Team of using excessive force during a fare inspection.
Kyle Taylor, dean of Mott Bridges Academy, says he was getting off a B14 bus on Oct. 6 when fare enforcement officers questioned him about his payment. Taylor says he explained that he had used a transfer, but the confrontation escalated when officers asked him for identification.
Video of the incident appears to show Taylor being pushed against a bus shelter. Taylor alleges he was grabbed, punched and slammed by officers. He says he later lost consciousness and was transported to a hospital with injuries to his neck, back, shoulder, arm and elbow.
Civil rights leader Rev. Kevin McCall joined Taylor, his attorneys and community members at a press conference Wednesday outside the East New York MTA Bus Depot, calling for an immediate independent investigation into the incident.
Taylor's attorneys with EEP Law say they are preparing a Notice of Claim to pursue legal action against the MTA, NYC Transit and the NYPD.
Taylor also shared fare payment records with News 12 that he says show he regularly pays to ride public transportation.
News 12 reached out to the MTA for comment and is awaiting a response.
