A Brooklyn man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing social justice activist Ryan Carson in 2023, according to the district attorney.
Several friends and family members of Carson's were in the courtroom showing support for the victim's family.
Dowling will serve 20 years to life in prison after signing his plea deal.
Authorities say 20-year-old Brian Dowling stabbed Carson in Bed-Stuy. The incident was caught on surveillance video.
Police say Dowling attacked the 32-year-old with a knife after asking, “What are you looking at?” and yelled, "I am going to kill you."
Carson was stabbed multiple times, including in the heart. First responders rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals Kings County, but he did not survive.
Dowling's next court date is set for Feb. 19.
