Snow and ice have left the bike lane on Flatbush Avenue south of Grand Army Plaza dangerously icy, forcing cyclists to take extra precautions or avoid the route altogether.
“This was a terrible ride,” said cyclist Mike Dowd. “If I would’ve known, I would’ve taken the subway to work this morning.”
The Department of Sanitation said it cleared the lane, but it refroze.
In a statement, the agency said, “We are committed to equity and servicing bike lanes simultaneously with car lanes. We re-addressed this lane multiple times and will continue to address it.”
