A beloved festival for book lovers is returning to the borough.
The Brooklyn Book Festival will be back next month.
The nine-day event features a variety of programs celebrating literature, giving attendees the chance to meet with some of their favorite authors and add new books to their personal libraries.
As some books face challenges in libraries and classrooms nationwide, the book festival's cofounder and producer Liz Koch said this year's 20th celebration holds special significance.
"It's more important than ever that people can just come see the thousands of books that are here and pick and choose what they would like to read without anybody telling them what they can and cannot read," said Koch.
The festivities kick off Sept. 14 with programming spread out across the city. The final day of the book festival takes place in Downtown Brooklyn.
Admission is free.
