A basement fire in a Brookfield home this weekend left a firefighter injured.
Brookfield Emergency Services and fire were dispatched to the home on Black Swan Court with reports of visible smoke.
The team entered the basement and found thick, black smoke. They were able to locate the source of the fire using thermal technology.
Fire officials said while the cause is still under investigation, the fire originated from a large dehumidifier next to the heating system.
They say the homeowner was able to secure the basement door - a crucial step that prevented the fire from spreading to the other parts of the house.
Fire officials stress the importance of keeping doors closed doors - especially when you sleep - to contain fires.
