A Bronx woman who says she was stabbed 22 times is speaking out as the man accused of attacking her remains out on the streets. Members from a local church gathered outside Bronx Criminal Court Thursday, chanting "No justice, no peace" as they stood beside Kaitlynn Burman, a mother who survived the violent attack last March. Burman says Christopher Joseph, someone she once considered a friend, stabbed her repeatedly inside her home while her 3-year-old daughter was in the next room. She says the attack left her nearly blind and with permanent nerve damage on the right side of her face. "I still get flashbacks," Burman said. "I still get scared to go out. I still get scared to do things." Prosecutors say Joseph was found with Burman's phone and cash after the attack. He was arrested and faces charges including attempted murder, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Joseph was held in custody until December, when a judge released him after the Bronx District Attorney's Office missed a deadline related to bail. He returned to court Thursday, though Burman says the case was called before she was able to arrive. Joseph is expected back in court on April 8, when a trial date could be set.
