Tyrell Thomas, 25, has was arraigned for the fatal stabbing on board a J train in Queens.  
The deadly stabbing happened on Sep. 30 just before 5:30 p.m. onboard the northbound J train at the Woodhaven Boulevard subway station. 
Police say Thomas displayed a knife and repeatedly stabbed a 59-year-old man, killing him.  
The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Mesias Lojano. Lojano suffered a stab wound to his chest, neck, lip, and back.  
Thomas fled the subway station and was chased by bystanders after the incident until he was apprehended by police two blocks away on top of a garage he climbed.  
According to Queens District Attorney Katz two kitchen knives were recovered at the scene. One broken knife was found inside the subway car, and another bloodied knife was found on the subway stairs.  
Thomas was arraigned on charges for murder and weapon possession. Prosecutors say Thomas and Lojano did not know each other, and the attack was random.  
If convicted, Thomas faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
