The Bronx County Fair is back for the first time in five years.
Organizer Freddy Perez tells News 12 that there will be rides, food stands and games. They say that safety is paramount.
The Department of Buildings says it inspects every amusement ride in the city before it goes into operation.
Any ride that does not pass inspection will not be used.
Perez says the NYPD will be on site to make sure everything runs smoothly. There will be random security checks throughout the fair, which is in a fenced-in location next to Ferry Park.
Admission is $5, but Perez says those looking for accommodations should call their local community board.
The fair takes place from May 7 to May 13. Hours are Monday through Friday 3-10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 2-10 p.m.
There will be free parking offered, but visitors are encouraged to take public transportation
