A Bridgeport woman who's celebrated her 70th birthday on Sunday also marked the 15th anniversary of her son's killing.
Betsy Baldwin was happy to celebrate her birthday, which is also a time for sadness and frustration.
"This is the day my son, Richard Gee, Jr., was murdered 15 years ago," Baldwin told News 12.
"So it's a bittersweet moment, to say the least," she said.
Gee, 36, was fatally shot on Railroad Avenue on the South End behind what used to be Marina Village but is now Winward Apartments, on July 20, 2010.
Police have never arrested a suspect and the case has gone cold.
"That's why we're asking the public to please help the police if you know anything about my son's murder. He was just an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time. And if it was you who did this, please come forward and do the right thing," Baldwin said.
Anyone who can help police is asked to call (203) 576-TIPS.
