A Bridgeport pastor issued a call to action during National Mentoring Month.

Dr. Charlie Stallworth, of East End Baptist Church, encouraged every adult parishioner to take a young person under their wing.

"So it's so important today because exposure means everything. The people get a chance to see and to hear from someone who has done well in their career. I know here at our church we have a ministry, taking it to the streets, in which we're trying to reach the young boys and young girls to show them the different options in life," Stallworth explained.

The church held a mentoring workshop this weekend to encourage mentoring in the city.
