A Bridgeport man accused of trying to kill his ex-wife was caught attempting to escape into Canada, according to police.
It started in Bridgeport's East End Tuesday when authorities say Joao Victor Borges De Queiroz hid in the trunk of his ex-wife's car. As she left for work, detectives say he pushed down the back seat and started shooting.
The bullet went through the windshield.
The suspect is then accused of choking his ex-wife.
Ultimately, she was able to throw the gun out the window, fight him off and run away for help.
Canadian officers on the Vermont border caught Borges De Queiroz early Wednesday morning and handed him off to border patrol.
Borges De Queiroz is faces a number of charges, including attempted murder, as he awaits extradition to Connecticut.
