A Bridgeport church is giving back to the community.

The New Church of Science and Wonders hosted a food and clothing giveaway this weekend at McLevy Green.

'"What we receive, we want to give back because there are people out there that need help and our goal is to help those people that are in need so we make ourselves available once a year, call to repentance, to do this to give back to the community," said Annette McNeil.

"I feel good, it's hot, but I feel good out here and you know what, I'm very excited that it's nice," said Bernice Andrews of the New Church of Science and Wonders. "It's been raining quite a few weekends."

Organizers say the two-day event was the highest turnout with hundreds of people in attendance.
