        Breezy, chances for spotty showers Saturday before improving weather Sunday

        The cloudy trend will continue into the weekend along with hit and miss showers. Temperatures will be close to average for this time of year.

        Clouds linger into the weekend as Long Island sees some of the remnants of Hurricane Helene. Saturday will be cloudy and a little bit breezy with the chance for spotty showers. Sunday improves a little bit with some dry time and brightening in the afternoon.
        Expect seasonable temperatures through the weekend.
        Long Island kicks next week off with some nice sunshine before shower chances return. Any rain that falls will be light and parts of Long Island will continue to be in a slight drought.
        FORECAST:
        OVERNIGHT: Cloudy with patchy fog and the chance for some light rain showers by Saturday morning. Lows near 63 degrees with east winds 5 to 10 mph.
        SATURDAY: Cloudy with the chance for spotty light showers. Breezy at times with east winds 10 to 15 mph. Highs near 72 degrees. Cloudy with a spot shower at night and lows near 60 degrees. East winds 5 to 15 mph.
        SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy and unsettled with the chance for a few showers. Most of the afternoon is dry with highs near 69 degrees. Lows near 57 degrees.
        MONDAY: Partly sunny and nice with highs near 70 degrees. Lows near 57 degrees.
        TUESDAY: Partly sunny with the chance of scattered rain showers. Highs near 70 degrees. Lows near 59 degrees.
        WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with the chance of a few showers. Highs near 70 degrees. Lows near 55 degrees.
        THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and nice with highs near 69 degrees. Lows near 54 degrees.
