For the first time since 2013, the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks fired into the sky from the Hudson River.
There were five barges on the water with 60,000 shells to light up the sky. Hoboken, of course, provided a perfect view of the Hudson River and the New York City skyline.
Some families camped out or strolled along the waterfront. The southernmost barge lined up with 5th Street, near Sinatra Park.
Some of the best places to view the fireworks were Pier A Park, Maxwell Park and Sinatra Park.
But perhaps the most useful tip was from the public safety director Ken Ferrante.
"If you're coming to the city, please use mass transit. We've saw the last time it was on the Hudson River, four-hour backups leading out of the Hudson County area. You have to realize that out of the Jersey City, Hoboken and Weehawken, we're expecting a half million people to this waterfront in just a three-to-four-mile stretch, so mass transit is the way to go,” Ferrante said.
