The founder of Northwind Kennels' Rescue Right in Bedford faces two new animal cruelty charges, according to SPCA Westchester.
Penny Berk was initially charged with five counts of animal cruelty in July.
The new charges stem from an SPCA visit in October 2023. Officials found two distressed dogs, Felix and Nelly, displaying severe symptoms.
        Both dogs required euthanasia.
Berk is due back in Mount Kisco Justice Court in January.
Berk’s attorney says she denies the charges and intends to vigorously defend against these two additional allegations.
