A single mother of three boys was identified as the victim in Monday morning's tragedy on NJ Transit's River Line.
A Philadelphia-based attorney representing the family identified her as Jessica Haley, 41, of Levittown, PA.
She worked for 20 years for Alstom, a contractor for NJ Transit. Her sister, Rebecca, has also worked as a train operator for nearly 20 years along the River Line.
The attorney told News 12 that Rebecca said that trees on or near tracks have always been an issue.
        Haley’s boys are ages 6, 8 and 13.
News 12 reported Monday that the train was traveling near Mansfield at 6 a.m. when it hit a tree on the tracks. The tree smashed through the windshield, resulting in the death of the train operator.
Officials say 23 passengers suffered minor injuries. Some had to be taken off the train by stretcher to ambulances, waiting for them along nearby Route 130.
River Line service between Trenton Transit Center and Florence Station remains suspended. Bus service continues to replace trains, serving all stations, as River Line personnel make necessary track repairs and evaluate the area.
Service will continue to operate between Florence Station and the Entertainment Center in Camden.
