An Atlantic County Department of Public Works supervisor has been indicted on charges alleging he orchestrated a large-scale diesel fuel theft scheme involving county fuel pumps, authorities said.

An Atlantic County grand jury on March 10 indicted Joseph Jenkins-Ridley, 48, of Mays Landing, on charges of official misconduct, theft and conspiracy.

Prosecutors said the investigation began in May 2025, when Department of Public Works officials reported irregularities in diesel fuel logs.

Investigators determined Jenkins-Ridley used his position as a supervisor to access county fuel pumps and fuel trucks connected to his private business, Z5 Logistics.

Since March 2023, Jenkins-Ridley allegedly directed employees at his business to fuel trucks at county pumps almost daily, resulting in the theft of nearly $80,000 worth of diesel fuel, prosecutors said.
