Drivers in New Rochelle are facing another major disruption as a bridge is set to close for months of construction this summer.
The Centre Avenue Bridge will shut down starting Monday, June 29.
Crews will begin a major overhaul of the 68-year-old structure.
The project includes demolition, reconstruction, and the addition of new sidewalks and pavement.
Officials say the bridge will also be raised slightly to give trucks traveling on I-95 below more room and reduce bridge strike incidents.
Work will take place during both daytime and overnight hours.
Drivers should expect possible lane closures on I-95 near the bridge.
Detours will be posted for both eastbound and westbound traffic, as well as for pedestrians.
The bridge is not expected to reopen until Sept. 1.
The North Avenue Bridge over Interstate 95 in New Rochelle reopened to traffic in April, following a $31.8 million replacement project.
