A woman has died after police believe she was hit by an ambulance in Midwood.

Police say the ambulance was making a left on Avenue O when it hit a 44-year-old woman crossing the street.

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police are still trying to piece together what happened.
