The alleged founder of a radical network based primarily in Brooklyn has been charged with providing material support to foreign terrorist groups including the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and Al-Nusrah Front (ANF).

Uzbek national Davud Ansariy stands accused of founding the “Tea Party”, a group authorities say financed the travels of aspiring ISIS and ANF fighters or planned to join such groups in Syria.

Investigators say the network also raised money to help families left behind by would-be and deceased fighters.

Ansariy left the United States for Turkey five days after the arrest of a co-conspirator in May 2016. He remained a fugitive until his apprehension in August 2026.

Prosecutors say he was extradited on Sept. 23 and will be arraigned Thursday afternoon at federal court in Brooklyn.
