Hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled at Newark Liberty International Airport Sunday following the first significant snowfall of the season.

There were almost 500 delays and over 200 cancellations by 5 p.m. to both international and domestic flights.

Those on outgoing flights faced long lines and wait times to rebook.

One passenger was trying to rebook her ticket home after boarding a flight to Charleston, South Carolina that sat on the runway for several hours. Her flight was eventually canceled.

"I bought another flight tomorrow morning,” said Kaitlin Deller. “…We almost rented a car for like $300 to get to New Haven to get another flight but then realized that was insane. So, we've been sprinting around."
