Accused Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann is expected to plead guilty, possibly as early as his next court date, according to multiple sources. The terms of the plea are not known at this time.
The 62-year-old Massapequa Park resident is accused of killing
seven women between 1993 and 2011, including Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Amber Lynn Costello, Maureen Brainard-Barnes,
Sandra Costilla, Jessica Taylor and Valerie Mack.
Their unsolved deaths have haunted detectives for years and offered
no relief to the families.
He did not appear in court last week due to
health issues.
He was arrested leaving his Manhattan office in July 2023, after over a decade of national headlines on the case and speculation online about the heinous crimes mostly involving prostitutes. He was caught after investigators used DNA of his found on a pizza slice as evidence and originally charged with the murder of three women.
Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney had previously said no deal is on the table,
"No. Absolutely no," he said.
