Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of an 85-year-old woman who was found badly injured inside her Bed-Stuy home late Tuesday night.
Police say officers were called to a building at 638 Throop Ave. just before 10 p.m. after a 911 call reported that a woman had been stabbed. When officers went inside, sources say they found Julia Boomer, 85, lying on her back with multiple stab and slash wounds.
Emergency crews rushed Boomer to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, but police say she later died from her injuries.
Investigators blocked off the street and sidewalk in front of the building as they began looking into what happened. Police have not said who made the 911 call, whether anyone else was inside the home at the time or what may have led up to the stabbing. Sources say that multiple 911 calls came in and someone was heard saying, "Mommy, come with me."
Boomer lived in the building where she was found. Sources believe that her 22-year-old grandson was taken into custody.
They also have not said whether the attack was targeted or random.
