Six people were injured Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle crash involving a school bus and an ambulance in East New York, according to the FDNY.
The collision happened at around 10 a.m. at the entrance of a strip mall on Pennsylvania Avenue near Wortman Avenue.
Witnesses said a white Honda Civic was struck between a small yellow school bus and an ambulance, leaving the car severely damaged.
Officials say five people were taken to Brookdale Hospital, including one person with serious injuries. They say all are expected to recover.
Debris and tire marks were left scattered across the road and sidewalk. Community members said speeding is a constant problem in the area and called for safety measures, such as traffic cameras.
“It’s always like this,” one witness said. “There’s kids, everybody just walking back and forth… it’s dangerous.”
