New York City’s 2025 primary elections are next Tuesday, and Senior Political Reporter Tara Rosenblum brings us the latest candidate on the ballot - City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams.

Adams joined New York City's crowded Democratic mayoral primary in March.

If the late momentum works in her favor, Adams could make history as the first woman to lead New York City.

The former corporate executive-turned-council speaker is running on her long resume, while branding herself as the "anti-drama" candidate.

Her platform includes reversing controversial immigration policies, reforming mental health response and restoring trust in City Hall.

As speaker, she also set aside nearly $2 billion in reserves to "Trump-proof" the city from federal cuts.

Adams is still polling in the single digits, despite some high-profile endorsements and a recent fundraising boost.

She hasn't ruled out endorsing a frontrunner if she loses, but she says there is one person she will never support.
