Police say a woman was found dead at a home in Herricks last week in what has been determined to be a criminal homicide.
Officers responded to Larch Drive for a well check around 3:52 p.m. last Friday. Police discovered a 46-year-old female who was unconscious, not breathing and had apparent facial burns.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The victim has been identified as Aleena Asif, of Herricks.
The medical examiner has determined this to be a criminal homicide due to asphyxiation by an unknown chemical substance.
Further testing is set to be done by the medical examiner officer.
