Police say a 4-year-old child was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday in Brownsville.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. in front of Brookdale Hospital.

Police say an unidentified person operating a Ford SUV was traveling northbound on Linden Boulevard when the vehicle struck the boy.

The child was running eastbound on Rockaway Parkway toward Church Avenue at the time of the collision, police say.

The vehicle left the scene and the child was transported to Brookdale Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

No arrests have been made.
