Driving in New Jersey just got more expensive — a 3% increase on tolls just went into effect.
2025 will be the 5th year for the 3% toll hike since the spending plan was approved in 2019. Back then the Turnpike Authority said the rate would increase "up to" 3% each year.
But each year, it's been exactly 3%. Over the last five years, tolls have increased 15%. They haven't said when the annual price hikes would stop.
According to the Turnpike Authority they put out a $1.6 billion plan in capital projects, including repairs and enhancements.
A couple of more factors that will increased to your commute are New Jersey’s gas tax has gone up a little more than two cents per gallon and congestion pricing set to start on Sunday.
