Coney Island businesses gear up for Fourth of July crowds, hot dog contest & fireworks

Businesses along the Coney Island boardwalk say they are prepping for tons of visitors this Fourth of July.

Coney Island is bracing for massive crowds this Fourth of July as boardwalk businesses, hot dog lovers and fans of fireworks prepare for one of the busiest days of the summer.
Businesses along the Coney Island boardwalk say they are prepping for tons of visitors this Fourth of July.
At the Brooklyn Beach Shop, co-founder Maya Miller says there’s a surprise in store this year — a limited-edition Nathan’s pop-up, featuring exclusive merchandise.
“It’s a Nathan’s pop-up. So a lot of new items that you’ve never seen before — really cool, fun stuff,” Miller said. “We’ve got only 200 of this enamel pin for the official competition.”

Men's hot dog eating contest: 12 p.m.
Brooklyn Cyclones vs. Hudson Valley Renegades: 6:40 p.m.
Fireworks show: 9:45 p.m.
