A car struck two children Wednesday near the intersection of Sunny Ridge Road and Bristol Lane in New Hempstead.
The Ramapo Police Department received a dispatch call around 3:30 p.m. reporting the incident.
Details on injuries and the children's ages have not been released.
Neighbors described the scene, with one resident noting a motorized bike lying in the road.
Residents expressed concerns about the area's safety, citing a lack of stop signs and speeding vehicles.
"It's a dangerous area," said Gabriel Alexandre, a New Hempstead resident. "There are signs saying 'children at play' and 'slow down,' but people come down here very fast."
