A 15-year-old boy with autism who went missing during a school field trip at Monmouth Battlefield State Park has been found safe, authorities say.
Kamilo Giraldo was last seen around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday wearing a blue jacket. Law enforcement officials said he is verbal but may have difficulty communicating his thoughts.
The search prompted a massive emergency response, with more than 100 resources involved, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Monmouth Battlefield State Park spans roughly 2,000 acres, with open fields, wooded areas and miles of trails.
After hours of searching, Giraldo was found safe and unharmed, authorities say.
The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office thanked local agencies for responding on short notice to help locate the teen.
