A replica tied to the ideals of the Declaration of Independence made a stop in Bridgeport as part of a statewide America 250 celebration.

Local leaders gathered Thursday to view and sign a specialized replica of the "Recommitment to the Ideals of the Declaration of Independence" document. Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim said he felt both pride and humility while taking part in the ceremony.

The tour began in Hartford on July 4 and is making stops in all 169 Connecticut municipalities. Organizers say the project, conducted in partnership with Connecticut Humanities, is designed to commemorate America's 250th anniversary and encourage reflection on the principles of the Declaration of Independence.
