Students in Bridgeport will now have access to expanded mental health services due to state and federal funding.

The district announced earlier this week they received a total of $1.2 million in grants from the Connecticut Department of Health and U.S. Department of Justice.

The grants will allow students at Bassick, Central and Harding high schools to work with LifeBridge. The behavioral health organization provides mental health services and substance use recovery to children, adolescents and adults.

With their grant from DPH, LifeBridge staff began working with Harding students earlier this month and provided violence intervention and prevention services, including social emotional learning programs.

The DOJ grant will allow LifeBridge to offer community resiliency model training for educators and increase mental health and SEL services to students.
