An 11-year-old girl is in the hospital with serious injuries after a Lexus SUV struck her while she rode her bicycle in Rockland County last night.
The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Ronald Drive near Nancy Lane in Monsey, marking the fourth time this year a person has been hit by a vehicle in the Hudson Valley, and the third confirmed case involving a child.
Witnesses reported the girl was badly hurt, and Town of Ramapo police said she was rushed to Westchester County Medical Center. Her condition remains unknown this morning. The driver stayed at the scene.
Police closed the intersection until past midnight to investigate and reconstruct the crash.
This follows a disturbing trend in Hasidic communities, with similar incidents in Ramapo, including a fatal crash on Jan. 8 in the Ramapo/Airmont area, plus others in Yonkers and Kiryas Joel.
