Family gathered in East Flatbush on Saturday to remember Christin Emile – a 33-year-old man fatally shot by police last Mother’s Day.
He was shot on May 12, 2024 after police say they saw him arguing with someone and in possession of a weapon. The NYPD released body camera and CCTV footage of the shooting.
Emile’s family is asking for the New York Attorney General’s office to hold the officers involved accountable for his death. According to the family’s lawyers, Emile was shot six times in his back and the back of his head as he ran away from police.
They also want to see legislation that would require officers to always have body cameras on.
