One person was killed in an apartment fire Sunday evening in Bronxville.
Fire officials tell News12 they received a call just before 10 P.M. about fire in a second-floor apartment in the Rivermere complex at 610 Lake Ave.
The complex has two buildings; the fire was in the north building.
Fire officials say there was heavy smoke and fire coming from the second-floor apartment in the north building when they arrived.
The building’s superintendent helped rescue a woman from the apartment, she was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Investigators say a second person who lived in the apartment died, but they have not released any information on that person.
Everyone else from both buildings got out safely but they have not been able to go back home yet. The Red Cross is helping those displaced residents.
Investigators are expected to be back on the scene to investigate Monday morning. There is no word on a cause yet, but fire officials say it does not appear to be suspicious.
